In order to beef up his number of eliminations in 2014, Roman Reigns needed to be given one or two moments of complete dominance in the Rumble. After having a hand in the elimination of The Great Khali and also getting rid of El Torito, Kevin Nash, and John 'Bradshaw' Layfield, Reigns also managed to tip both Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose over the top as the match reached its climax.

At this point in time the cracks in The Shield hadn't begun to show, and the three future WWE World Champions were still a picture of unity and brotherhood. The trio had largely worked together in the Rumble, taking control of the match and saving each other from elimination time and time again. The competitiveness of the three was never far away of course, and that competitiveness led to Ambrose and Rollins vacating the bout.

Ambrose brought it on himself however, attempting to eliminate Reigns after The Big Dog had thrown Luke Harper out of the match. Reigns retaliated by pushing Ambrose and Rollins over the top as the duo attempted to eliminate Antonio Cesaro. In doing so Reigns tied Kane's record for eliminations, a record he would break moments later by throwing Sheamus out of the 2014 Royal Rumble.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
