The 2014 Royal Rumble crowd turned on the match when it became clear that Daniel Bryan was not going to be involved, but one year earlier Bryan's Rumble adventure came to an end because of his own treachery. Bryan was one half of the WWE Tag Team Champions when the 2013 Royal Rumble came around, although he wasn't exactly on consistently good terms with his partner.

Bryan and Kane were one of the great odd couples, but they combined to make an impressively effective tag team. The duo worked together to eliminate perennial toothless threat The Great Khali from the match, but that would prove to be Kane's final act of the match as an active competitor. As Kane saw off the big man from India, Bryan took advantage of the situation to toss his partner out.

This move immediately came back to haunt Bryan however, as he himself was thrown over the top by Antonio Cesaro into the waiting arms of his tag partner. Rather than put Bryan back in the ring Kane decided to hold that grudge, dropping Bryan to the floor and ending his night. The eliminations didn't hurt their partnership however, and the two held tag team bronze for another four months.
