10 Times Wrestlers Were Too Silly For Their Own Good
4. Brodus Clay
At 6'7" and over 350lbs, Brodus Clay was treated as an absolute monster during his time in WWE developmental territories, often portrayed as a beast or an insidious thug. On his way to the main roster, fans would have assumed he would have torn up the place, but that's not exactly what ended up happening.
Rather than brutalize the locker room, Clay was introduced to fans as 'The Funkasarus.' This reincarnation of his character saw him dancing on his way out to the ring and on the way back, sometimes even after a defeat or for no damn reason at all.
Accompanied by ' The Funkadactyls,' it seemed as though the gorilla-sized man was stuck as a comedy act, something CM Punk called out during the infamous Pipe Bomb promo. Rather than pose a threat to the WWE Championship picture, the heavyweight found himself cracking jokes with Jerry 'The King' Lawler and embarrassing other big men who failed to get over with Vince & Co.
Like so many others in his position, Clay was too good at his comedy schtick and couldn't quite escape type-casting. Although he turned heel before his tenure was up, fans still couldn't treat the former dancing giant seriously. It wasn't until he reached TNA Wrestling that he finally received a more serious presentation as 'Tyrus.'
