10 Times Wrestlers Won Matches By Accident

A whole new meaning to the phrase "false finish"...

Everyone with a basic understanding of the pro wrestling industry knows that the matches have predetermined outcomes.

Those who have been fans since childhood even felt their world crumbling down once the reality hit them that their favorite wrestlers didn't overcome insurmountable odds to defeat their evil foes, but that they were acting out a script written by a man in a suit who was pulling the strings backstage.

However, being a scripted form of entertainment doesn't take away the years of training and the level of risk the wrestlers undergo every time the wrestlers step inside the ring. It's the promoter's job to identify the potential in each talent and book them in the right spots to put on an entertaining show for their audience.

The creative decisions are a mixed product of carefully thought-out strategy or spur-of-the-moment judgments. Either way, the promoter and his creative team decide who gets the victory and who has the lie down for the three count. However, there are instances when wrestlers win matches they weren't supposed to, either as a shoot or by complete accident.

While the former cases faced their promoters' wrath, the bookers couldn't do much about the latter - and had to either live with the outcome and improvise or find a way to rectify the errors...

10. Kaitlyn Wins Battle Royal

Remember Kaitlyn, the winner of NXT Season 3 in 2010 and a former 1-time Divas Champion?

With a background as a fitness model, she found her way into the WWE in 2010. The Women's Revolution didn't exist back then, and she came into a company that still viewed female wrestling more as eye candy than legitimate in-ring action. WWE assigned her to the developmental territory FCW, where she ironically debuted in a Bikini Contest.

After winning NXT Season 3, Kaitlyn joined the main roster but wasn't ready for the title picture yet. However, an accidental victory led to her breaching the Divas Championship scene and holding the title for 153 days.

She competed in a Divas Championship No.1 contender's battle royal on the 20 August 2012 episode of Raw. WWE had planned for Eve Torres to come out as the winner, but when the latter asked Kaitlyn to hit her hard during the last clothesline spot, Kaitlyn obliged. But Torres couldn't land on the apron and fell to the floor, awarding Kaitlyn the accidental victory.
