10 Times Wrestlers Worked Their Way Into A Job
6. Cedric Alexander (WWE)
"Please Sign Cedric!" Clap Clap Clap. That was the sound that rang out throughout the Full Sail Arena after Cedric Alexander gave the fight of his life against Kota Ibushi in the Cruiserweight Classic's Round of Sixteen. You don't often see a match good enough that it generates that sort of response from the crowd.
Many of the Cruiserweight Classic's viewers, including this writer, were unfamiliar with Alexander's previous work, as he certainly wasn't one of the tournament's biggest names. However, he used this as fuel to produce not only the match of his career but also the match of the tournament.
His scintillating intensity within every movement and his babyface charisma oozing with every desperate facial expression demanded the attention of Triple H. It was easy to see that Alexander absolutely belonged in WWE. Four and a half Meltzer stars and a Paul Levesque handshake later, Cedric was signed. Fans rejoiced and Alexander was immediately the biggest babyface in the new Cruiserweight division on Raw. He's since held the Cruiserweight Title once and the 24/7 Title twice, plus it appears that he'll soon have even greater amounts of gold, as a member of the Hurt Business. Without that outstanding CWC performance, who knows where Alexander would be right now.
