Eric Bischoff returning to work alongside Vince Russo in the spring of 2000 was supposed to reinvent the wheel. WCW boasted that they now had the man responsible for the competition's 'Attitude Era' boom (Russo) and the dude responsible for taking WCW to the top in the 1990s (Bischoff).

It was an absolute clusterf*ck.

One of the first things WCW did was have commentators brag about the "new Dubya-C-Dubya". They said referees would let more go, and they definitely wouldn't have any crummy disqualification finishes. So, what happened next? You got it! A match ended via DQ almost immediately. That's so WCW it hurts.

Shockingly, this not-so-humble brag was total horsesh*t and meant nothing. WCW refs didn't let any more or less go than they had been in the terribly-unorganised promotion before New Blood hit the scene, and loads of bouts still ended in screwy ways.

In short, they were talking rubbish and clutching at straws.
