10 Times Wrestling Crowds Actually RUINED The Moment

4. Naito Challenges Okada At King Of Pro Wrestling 2013

Naito was on top of the world when he won the G1 in 2013, defeating the former ace Hiroshi Tanahashi in the finals. He even gained the NEVER title while also putting down his old rival, Masato Tanaka, in a match the crowd received fairly well.

But once he came back out to remind Okada he had his shot at Wrestle Kingdom, fans welcomed him with nothing but apathy. The Osaka crowd, with cold silence, not only killed the Stardust Genius, but also set back Okada's push another year. Their derision scared NJPW so much that they let fans vote on what match would main event the Dome that year, forcing the Rainmaker and Naito to take a backseat to the old guard in Shinsuke Nakamura and Hiroshi Tanahashi.

Thankfully, Naito managed to rebound, turning heel to form Los Ingobernables De Japon, and later turning back into a face. He finally got his moment main-eventing the Dome, and hoisting the titles, albeit, two years later than he should have. If not for his miraculous comeback from this tragic low, he could have lost his spot to Kota Ibushi or Shibata.

While Naito rides high today as IWGP double champion, fans left perturbed by his less than perfect push can't help but wonder how things would have been had Osaka just bought in back in 2013.
