10 Times Wrestling Crowds Actually RUINED The Moment
3. Anything Tye Dillinger Did On The Main Roster
Tye Dillinger lived by the ten chant, then died by the ten chant. It got him over like rover in the notoriously deep NXT talent pool but ended up being his downfall when he came to the main roster. He came in with all this hype, debuting at the number 10 spot in the Royal Rumble, but neither he nor the bookers could capitalize on that debut. Tye ended up leaving the company without winning a single title.
Still, the crowd abused the chant so much that it was excessive for someone that didn't have the push that someone like Daniel Bryan had.
The chant was over, not him.
Shouts of "Ten!" began bleeding into other matches as well, with fans screaming "Ten!" as the referee attempted to do countouts, which began messing up the pacing of a match. WWE began burying Tye, so as to bury the chants, wasting another perfectly good talent.
Thankfully, when Tye Dillinger switched over from WWE to AEW, he shedded all remnants of The Perfect 10 gimmick, becoming Shawn Spears, the Chairman, a new vicious heel persona rather than the cocky tweener he used to be. The chant has not persisted since then, as fans, and even Spears himself came to realize how detrimental it actually was to his matches.
