10 Times Wrestling Fans Booed The Good Guys
6. Bellas Booed Because Bayley's Brilliant
WWE could not have picked a worse target for the Bellas to get physical with at WrestleMania 37.
It's easy to see what WWE were going for - "Returning Hall of Famers beat up mouthy heel" is usually a surefire way to pop the crowd. Unfortunately, the brain trust in charge of the segment chose the wrong Hall of Famers and the wrong heel, resulting in the segment getting panned by the audience.
On the heel side, Bayley was the worst possible choice WWE could have made. The incredibly talented Role Model was the face of Smackdown for most of 2020, but this apparently wasn't enough for her to get a match on the most important PPV of the year. WWE's lack of respect to one of their hardest workers rankled most wrestling fans, and ensured the audience's sympathies were squarely with Bayley.
As for the Bellas?
They deserve huge props for the success they have achieved outside wrestling but to many wrestling fans, they are emblematic of the dark days of the "Divas" division, when WWE openly prioritised looks over talent for its females. Fair or not, the Bellas are seen as the faces of that time period and the sight of them one-upping a wrestler as talented as Bayley left a poor taste in fans' mouths.
