Famously, Trish Stratus turned down WWE's invitation to participate in the Miss WrestleMania Battle Royal:-

“Simply, there were no finishes, no, ‘What’s going to happen? Will I win?’ discussed. It was just, ‘Would you like to be in this 25-woman Battle Royal at WrestleMania?’, and I said, ‘Thank you but I’m going to decline'.”

Trish Stratus, in one nimble rejection, saved face on her career. The same cannot be said for the assemblage of Divas legends who did enter the bout, which brought with it its first elimination - Layla - before Justin Roberts had finished explaining the match's inordinately elementary rules which instantly set the tone for the woeful disaster that was to follow. Making up the numbers were Jackie Gayda, Joy Giovanni, Sunny, and Torrie Wilson, Giovanni's inclusion being of particular interest as it was her first match ever. Coincidentally, it was also her last match, but you wouldn't have known she was even there, given WWE's petulance for disregarding the bout's blasts from the past.

Given the nature in which WWE nudged the match's lineup onto the stage, where they were then begrudgingly made to dance around a jiving Kid Rock as he staggered his way through "So Hott" like some sort of seductive Grand Theft Auto V cutscene at Vanilla Unicorn. Indeed, none of the four legends, nor the preferable Divas of the time were given an individual entrance, as would become the case with modernised WrestleMania Battle Royals. They were very much the Tatankas of the match whereas Kid Rock was the Shaquille O'Neal.
