10 Times WWE Did Exactly What The Wrestlers DIDN'T Want
9. CM Punk - SummerSlam 2013
A list such as this is practically impossible without a heavy dose of Chick Magnet Phil. After all, he is the symbolic martyr of WWE’s creative malaise and mistreatment of talent. 'The Voice of the Voiceless' in more ways than one.
While this may not have been the most egregious of affronts inflicted upon on the 'Second City Savior' by WWE, it certainly ranks close.
Coming off the end of his legendary 434-day WWE title run (more on that later) and facing The Undertaker in that epic clash at WrestleMania (despite the atrocious and reprehensible storyline), Punk had fallen out with manager Paul Heyman. Despite past issues, everyone was chomping at the bit when this led to a feud between Punk and Brock flippin' Lesnar.
The two titans of wrestling met at that year’s SummerSlam and despite putting on a herculean effort, Punk lost. Subsequent reports claimed of Punk’s utter discontent at having to lose yet another feud. The thing that truly offended the Best in the World (according to later reports at least) was the fact that Brock was simply going to disappear from TV again after this.
