10 Times WWE Disrespected Stone Cold Steve Austin

10. Asking Him To Job To Brock Lesnar On Raw With No Build

After an incredible 2001, Austin found himself sliding down the card in 2002. Despite main eventing No Way Out against Chris Jericho in February, he was working Scott Hall in the midcard at WrestleMania 18 and Ric Flair and the Big Show in April and May. He was clearly being phased down. WWE were beginning to launch a youth movement that would focus on newer, fresher stars like Brock Lesnar. WWE had high hopes for Lesnar, having signed him to a record-breaking $250,000 per year contract in 2000 just to train in OVW. Lesnar was on the warpath and Austin was chosen to be one of his victims. On a random episode of Raw, clean and wish no build up. It was terrible business and Austin knew it. The first Austin/Lesnar match should have been saved for a PPV six months or a year down the line. Austin was offended and rightly so. WWE had disrespected him by asking him to do such a senseless job. Austin famously walked out of the company on June 10th. He didn't work for the company again until February 2003.
