10 Times WWE Dropped The Ball On Jack Swagger

5. United States Championship Run

The All-American American as United States champion. Makes perfect sense, doesn't it? For whatever reason, that idea never occurred to WWE, otherwise they would have put the title on him much sooner than they did. And don't think for a second he couldn't have won it at any point in 2009 or 2010 when he was chasing the championship on Raw. It wasn't until January 2012 that he finally captured the star-spangled prize, and by virtue of being the one to take the title off The Long Island Iced Z prematurely, he was doomed to fail from the start. For one thing, it would have helped if WWE bothered to feature him on Raw or SmackDown. During his run as United States champion, he was rarely on either show and when he was, it was often in a losing effort. He was mainly relegated to working "WWE Superstars," further devaluing the title as a result. Before he could reach the two month mark as champion, he lost the championship to Santino Marella in early March. A fitting end to an awful title reign.
