7. Santino Marella Pinned Him At Elimination Chamber 2012
There's no denying that Santino Marella was always an entertaining character, but he existed on the roster mainly for comedy purposes. Entering him into the Elimination Chamber bout at the pay-per-view of the same name in February, 2012 was fine. Having him beat both Cody Rhodes and Wade Barrett within the space of 5 short minutes was not. After Daniel Bryan, the reigning World Heavyweight Champion, had nailed Barrett with a Diving Headbutt, Marella beat him. Once again, this pushed the reset button on the Englishman's career. WWE had failed to treat him seriously, despite having been in the match since the beginning. Barrett lasted around 30 minutes before Santino eliminated him from the fray. To make matters worse for the man, Wade did suffer a nasty elbow injury the next night on Monday Night Raw. During a Battle Royal, he felt the pain when Dolph Ziggler landed on him awkwardly. In the span of 24 hours, Barrett had been pinned by a comedy character and then forced to accept the fact he'd be on the shelf for at least a few months.
