10 Times WWE Dropped The Ball With Wade Barrett

5. Inconsequential Intercontinental Title Reigns

In total, Wade Barrett held the WWE Intercontinental Title on 5 different occasions. This may seem a little harsh, but can you remember any of them? It's fair to say this is a problem far larger than just Barrett, but his stints with the gold never really felt like they had any purpose. Worse, at times it was genuinely difficult to know he was actually in possession of the belt. His first Intercontinental Title victory came in March, 2011. That June, he dropped the title to Ezekiel Jackson, his aforementioned former stablemate in The Corre. He next held the title in December, 2012, defeating Kofi Kingston for the second time to win the belt. Pointlessly, he then traded the championship with The Miz over WrestleMania XXIX weekend. Future reigns came at the expense of Big E Langston in May, 2014, and then Dolph Ziggler in January, 2015. Neither of these tenures with the Intercontinental Title proved meaningful. WWE were just handing the man the belt without any real reasoning. It would have been preferable to see him only have the gold a single time, especially if it meant something to his career.
