As if it wasn't bad enough that Reigns continued acting like a one-man Shield, WWE's creative team seemed to favour turning him into John Cena-lite in 2014-15. That "sufferin' succotash, son" promo (along with the wink) alone was enough to establish that creative didn't have an earthly clue what to do with the guy.

Turning to hokey comedy, dreadful material that undermined the bad-ass persona Reigns had played in The Shield and a cocky swagger which appeared 100% false was not the answer, but it was the only thing WWE could come up with. By booking Roman this way, they made him totally unlikable and alienated the audience as a result.

Reigns is at his best when he's either speaking from the heart about his own hard work or keeping his words short and sweet. Attempting to make him kid-friendly like Cena or a swaggering braggart to rival The Rock in his prime was a terrible decision.

Two words: tater tots.
