10 Times WWE Failed To Make Dean Ambrose 'The Guy'
3. Not Getting The Most Out Of Brock Lesnar
Ambrose losing to 'The Beast' on the grand stage of WrestleMania isn't necessary a bad thing in and of itself. Many a great superstar have stumbled to 'The Mayor Of Suplex City' at 'The Granddaddy Of Them All': The Undertaker, Goldberg and Roman Reigns (twice) included. It would have been more than acceptable for Brock to finish with his arm raised, providing it was at the tail end of a great or even just solid match. It wasn't.
The buildup was substantial enough, hinting at an all out bloodbath between opponents, with Ambrose being supplied with a barbed wire bat and even a chainsaw from hardcore legends Mick Foley and Terry Funk respectively. But of course, this is the PG era and we knew such weapons wouldn't actually end up being used. That doesn't necessarily spell disaster for a match but the final product was nothing short of a let down.
Ambrose expressed his disappointment with how things went down on an edition of Steve Austin's podcast on the Network, explaining that a lot of his suggestions for the encounter were denied, with a lack of interest exhibited from Lesnar.
If Vince and company had had a word with Brock and forced him to up his game for the fight, this could have been a defining moment of Ambrose's career, as opposed to the lackluster and instantly forgettable affair it turned out to be.
