10 Times WWE Fans Forced A Face Turn
4. Daniel Bryan
In his early WWE run, Daniel Bryan was so good at playing heel that he managed to get himself released after strangling Justin Roberts with his neck-tie.
On his return, he was initially a face and then - once drunk with World Heavyweight Championship success - an arrogant heel, but with a twist.
Fans who followed his indie career couldn't quite bring themselves to hate him. Instead of booing Bryan, they jeered the egregious WWE booking that saw him lose to Sheamus inside 18 seconds at WrestleMania.
Bryan initially responded to the crowd's "Yes!" chants with a firm "No!" - but they they refused to go away. Before long, Vince McMahon was forced to embrace what everyone knew: that the former ROH star had the makings of a top, promotion-leading baby-face.
This was as reluctant a face turn as they come, led by a grassroots campaign that believed Bryan - a man once unironically tutored by The Miz - was a talent the company simply couldn't afford to waste.
