‘The French Phenom’ Maryse was released from her contract to the surprise of everyone in 2011. She had drastically improved since signing a developmental contract in 2007. It was when trying out for WWE in their Diva Search competition that Maryse met her future husband Mike ‘The Miz’ Mizanin, who was hosting the contest.

Her release meant Miz for years would tour and travel the road alone a lot of the time. Thankfully it all worked out, with it giving Maryse an opportunity to focus on other projects and giving Miz the chance to grow as a performer in WWE, with many referring to him as the hardest working wrestler behind the scenes.

The Miz proposed to Maryse in the very same hotel room they first met doing Diva Search a few years after she departed WWE. Maryse even returned to WWE to manage Miz in 2016, helping to revitalize his career. Their Miz and Mrs reality show has found huge success too, becoming a rating success. It goes to show it’s not the end of the world for performers after getting released from WWE.
