10 Times WWE Gave The Internet Wrestling Community What They Wanted

9. Christian Becomes World Heavyweight Champion

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zihdu2WXQNw It's easy to like Christian. He's an above average in-ring worker, and is loaded with charisma. But despite all of that, it's difficult to see him carrying the title of "the man". If anything, Christian would have been even bigger if the territories were still around. Unfortunately, they aren't, and we have to settle with what we get. Christian's a great utility player, and is someone the WWE can consistently count on. The IWC, however, just doesn't see it that way. If the IWC had it their way, Christian would probably still be the World Heavyweight Champion. And there can be no doubt that when Christian first won the title at Extreme Rules 2011, it was a special moment. His nineteen-year career is something he can be extremely proud of, and the World Championship win is perhaps his crowning achievement. The IWC was elated that one of their chosen sons had finally won the title, but perhaps less enthused when he lost it to Randy Orton a mere two days later at the SmackDown tapings. Even though they went on to have a series of incredible matches, the IWC were not happy. Support for Christian came from his fellow wrestlers and fans, including a few former WWE alumni on Twitter who urged fans to simply wait the storyline out to see what happens. Christian did eventually hold onto the title for a solid 28-day reign, but he hasn't come near the title picture since that time. But even with all that said, it was clear that the WWE was giving the IWC what they wanted by putting the belt on Christian.
