5. ECW Invading The WWF

Naturally, one can't talk about ECW invading the WWF without bringing up WCW too. That's coming in a future entry, don't worry. For now, try to comprehend why anyone thought ditching Paul Heyman (who was right there!) as leader of this extreme invasion was a solid plan.

Paul E was pretty much ignored in favour of slapping an ECW cap on Stephanie McMahon and pretending she was the new queen of extreme. This, rather annoyingly, was the WWF's latest way of ensuring that the McMahon family dominated everything. That wouldn't have been a problem had Steph been a neat fit, but she wasn't.

This remains one of 2001's worst ideas.

Fans of the original ECW were excited to see Heyman lead acts like Raven, Tommy Dreamer, The Dudley Boyz, Tazz etc against Vince McMahon's juggernaut. Instead, they got more family in-fighting and Paul E stepping aside so Steph could kid on she watched Hardcore TV in the 1990s.
