4. WCW’s Invasion

ECW was only drafted in because WCW's own invasion was crap, to be fair.

News spread like wildfire that the WWF had purchased the competition in March 2001. Fans immediately started drafting up dream matches like Sting vs. The Undertaker, Goldberg vs. Steve Austin and Ric Flair vs. Triple H. Two of those bouts would never happen.

Top stars like Flair, Sting and Goldberg didn't roll onto WWF programming first. Nah, it was the likes of Lance Storm and Hugh Morrus who received that honour. How did they land body blows on the fed? Well, erm...Storm gatecrashed Steve Blackman and Trish Stratus vs. Perry Saturn and Terri Runnels for starters.

Yeah, this was nowhere near big enough to kickstart the invasion angle properly. It came across as second-rate; wouldn't it have made more sense for Lance to attack high-profile WWF stars rather than running in on a midcard inter-gender bout that lasted three minutes?

Awful.
