10 Times WWE Got The Money In The Bank Winner Wrong

4. Baron Corbin (2017)

Dissecting whether or not Baron Corbin had heat with WWE management was tricky between 2017 and 2018.

Corbin was made to look like a fool on numerous occasions, constantly lost marquee matches, and was literally put in front of the firing squad when the McMahon family publicly blamed him for the company's poor ratings, not their own menial storylines - and yet, he was 2017's Mr Money in the Bank.

WWE clearly had no clue what direction to move in for the match as with Jinder Mahal's WWE Championship run designed to build relations with India, they weren't keen on him dropping the strap after a month. Rather than have an AJ Styles or a Shinsuke Nakamura win the briefcase and hold onto it until after Mahal had dropped the belt, they gave it to Corbin, made him look like a tit in his unsuccessful cash-in, and have left him out of the main event scene ever since.

Having Nakamura, for example, win the briefcase after a few months on the main roster would have been the shot of adrenaline that could've restored his enigma. WWE was clueless on how to correctly book him, though, and instead had him lose back-to-back pay-per-view matches against Jinder Mahal instead of having him wreck fools with the stiff, potent style he was known for in Japan.

A wreck is what this was, on both sides.
