10 Times WWE Got The Royal Rumble Main Event Wrong

5. Royal Rumble 1993

You can probably say with a degree of confidence that Yokozuna was the least likely of all the Royal Rumble winners to put on a five-star classic (and yes, once again, that does include Vince McMahon himself).

And though it's probably true that judging him through the lens of today's wrestling is slightly unfair - the early '90s was a time when the WWE product in particular was altogether more cartoonish and kid-friendly - that fact doesn't change.

He was an attraction more than anything else. A mightily impressive one (not too many other 500-pounders can do a belly-flop from the turnbuckle), but a freak show attraction all the same, and one that should have been kept at an appropriate distance from the main event.

That's one school of thought anyway, but in 1993 WWE decided that he was the man to win a Royal Rumble featuring the likes of Ric Flair, Undertaker, Mr Perfect and Randy Savage, and then go on to beat Bret Hart at WrestleMania IX.

It was a dark time.
