10 Times WWE Introduced Something Cool (Then Panicked And Took It Away)
5. Immediate Post-Match Interviews
There's something undoubtedly special about seeing a wrestler take part in a backstage interview so soon after being involved in an extremely taxing match.
Often these backstage segments can lead to glorious moments of improvisation and entire programmes can be set into motion off the back of a brief interview.
Yet, WWE fleetingly went one step further.
After the 2016 Brand Split, the company allowed their stars to be interviewed inside of the ring literally straight after their contests had ended and this led to some quite memorable exchanges, particularly the one between Renee Young and The Miz. That angle actually even led to a programme between Young's partner Dean Ambrose and Miz.
So, the concept looked as though it could have some legs if used in the right way and not necessarily as a constant way of starting up feuds.
However - minus the odd re-emergence - fans haven't been treated to these spur of the moment debriefs on a regular basis for some time. It seems as though Vince McMahon has done what he has become infamous for once more and instead of sticking with a promising notion in order to allow it the time to succeed, he killed the fledgling idea before it ever had a chance to fully get over.
One day he may decide that he misses this alternate approach to prodding his stars, and we'll be right back where we were in 2016.
