10 Times WWE Legends Got Squashed

5. Rey Mysterio (Vs. The Great Khali - SmackDown, 12 May 2006)

WWE's inability to properly book babyfaces has been a point of contention for some time now, and the above clip shows that the rot has been creeping in for well over a decade.

The incredibly popular Rey Mysterio's title run should have been a home run for WWE, but the company kept shooting itself in the foot at every turn. Instead of booking Rey as the resilient, gritty underdog he needed to be, WWE made him look like a joke. The absolute nadir of his reign occured in the above clip - a three minute humiliation at the hands of the Great Khali in which the legendary luchador got man-handled by the least mobile big man since Giant Gonzalez. And, in one final kick in the balls, this match took place in Mysterio's hometown! "Thanks for coming, folks! Enjoy the shitshow!"

At least WWE learned from their mistakes and never again booked their babyfaces to look like chumps in their hometowns. (Oh, wait...). Well, at least they never again overpushed an unready talent to appease a potential new market! (Oh, wait...).

WWE: Failing upwards since the new millenium!
