10 Times WWE Marketing Was Pure BULLSH*T

6. The Women's Tag Team Championship

Bayley and Sasha Banks are the first-ever WWE Women's Tag Team Champions...

...if you are Michael Cole.

Anybody else capable of either basic memory recall or the ability to access Wikipedia is aware that Velvet McIntyre and Princess Victoria were recognised as the first holders following the WWF's secession from the National Wrestling Alliance. But, because this is boring, ancient history, WWE has simply erased it. And who cares, right? Women's wrestling was awful back then. Stephanie McMahon hadn't even invented it, it was all a leering sexual meat racket, and the NXT generation hadn't yet elevated the medium into something of legitimacy and quality.

We have the IIconics now. Back then, we had to suffer through the Jumping Bomb Angels!

WWE instead marketed Bayley and Sasha Banks as trailblazers to the overall detriment of the brand's value. It is impossible to believe anything Michael Cole says to sell a plot point, because he lies so often.

WWE is obsessed with records and accomplishments and the like, which, regrettably, often manifests as a big brass pair of brazen b*llocks. WWE could set a new record - of classifying its talent as employees, for the first time ever! - but that would cost money.
