10 Times WWE Missed Out On Making Sheamus A Superstar

10. Sheamus Could've Replaced Santino Marella

On the night that Santino Marella debuted in Milan, Italy (April 16, 2007), unsigned performer Sheamus O'Shaugnessy wrestled in a dark match versus Drew Galloway. Sheamus had been on WWE's radar since 2006, and had he been signed by then, the idea of having Sheamus debut under a hood as the "Milan Miracle" and defeat Umaga with Bobby Lashley's help could've been awesome. Sheamus having a brief babyface run as a man with an Italian flag mask who then revealed himself as an evil, desperate Irishman who did what he needed to do in order to get a WWE contract could've been compelling TV. As well, it would've lent a certain level of credibility to him winning the WWE Championship by December 2009. "Generic big bad dude" beating John Cena versus "evil, lying and cheating bad dude" beating Cena. One of these certainly works better than the other.
