10 Times WWE Posters Totally Lied To You

9. One Night Stand 2008 (Kane)

The poster accompanying One Night Stand in 2008 is a classic example of WWE conducting a photoshoot before booking the event. Kane is featured, toting a branding iron of the promotion's logo. There's nothing especially wrong with the poster, and it'd make a quite striking image normally. However, Kane didn't appear on the Pay-Per-View. That's a theme on this list, and it's wholly confusing. Surely the entire purpose of a promotional poster is to hype what fans can expect to see if they purchase a Pay-Per-View or tune in. By contrast here, One Night Stand's image tells people that Kane will be a featured part of the broadcast. The fact he wasn't is therefore strange, and makes the poster ultimately pointless. In the main event, The Undertaker faced Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship. The bout was a TLC Match, so wouldn't that have made for sense on the poster? That's a huge collision, and one that would get fans excited. Kane wasn't even in a match on the show, so there was no purpose to the photoshoot he was part of.
