10 Times WWE Purposefully Lied To The Fans

4. Bret Hart "Wrestling" In 2010

2010 was a very ... intriguing year for Bret Hart. On the January 4th Raw he made his first appearance since the infamous Montreal Screwjob (more later) and buried the hatchet with long time rival Shawn Michaels. Later that night he attempted to make peace with Vince McMahon, but instead got kicked in the nuts and that all lead to the abysmal "match" between the two at WrestleMania 26. The lie in this is example, is that WWE advertised Bret Hart as a wrestler, competing in an actual match, when they knew full well that he simply couldn't do anything close to actual wrestling. This is because Bret Hart permanently retired from wrestling in 1999 after suffering a concussion from a stiff kick from Goldberg in WCW. Three years later Bret suffered a stroke after crashing his motorcycle. His wrestling career was over. And it's not just physical limitations. Officially Bret Hart is permanently disabled after his successful lawsuit over Lloyd's of London in 2005 so legally he cannot take anything close to a bump in a professional wrestling match. That WWE advertised Bret Hart in matches at WrestleMania and Summerslam and even booked him to win the U.S. Title from the Miz is just insulting.

As a wrestling fan I've flown across the Atlantic for the last five years specifically to attend WrestleMania (28 and 30) as well as TNA, ROH, Evolve, Chikara and most recently PWG. I may have a problem! But if you're reading my work then you probably love wrestling too, so lets focus on that!
