10 Times WWE Repeated History

5. Double Trouble At Two Royal Rumbles

Vince McMahon has almost never felt the cruel hand of karma on his shoulder, so it was quite nice that he was made to sit the f*ck down by it when he thought his pay-per-view had gone the way of his quads in 2005.

It really wasn't worth his rage. Batista and John Cena had tumbled over the top at the same time in a spot that looked familiar to the finish from 1994 between Bret Hart and Lex Luger. There, the move had been orchestrated to take the audience's temperature on just exactly who it was they wanted to go to WrestleMania. Here...it was a flub.

In the most astonishing bit of fortune (not least in that neither sustained any injuries), the pair hit the deck at the exact same time. Planned winner Batista hadn't won, but he hadn't lost either. This could have made for quite the angle, but a panicked Vince rushed out with more fury than his legs could cope with. Infamously restarting the match with one blown quad before walking to the back unaided and blowing the other, McMahon could have saved himself months of painful rehab if he'd just had a better memory.
