10 Times WWE Revived AWFUL Storylines

Some feuds should have been allowed to rest in peace. Sadly Vince disagreed.

Vince McMahon and WWE are not always very quick on the uptake. There is an entire catalogue of feuds and characters that massively overstayed their welcome despite the fans clearly rejecting the idea. Men in turkey costumes emerging out of eggs, getting Roman Reigns over as a heroic babyface, Lana’s love affair with the announce table, the list goes on. This gets even stranger though.

Because over the years there have been plenty of situations where WWE initially realized an angle was rubbish and binned it, only to revive it in the future for no good reason.

For some unexplained cause, the mad old brain of Vince McMahon thought dumpster fires like the Randy Orton-Bray Wyatt feud, or the constantly under-delivering Jeff-Matt Hardy rivalry, or the long expired babyface vs heel authority figure storylines deserved another go, despite all evidence being to the contrary.

No one other than the boss will ever know the reason why. But what we can do is go through these pointless resurrections and list them in order of most undeserved. These are 10 times WWE revived awful storylines that really should have allowed to rest in peace.

10. Ronda Rousey Vs Nia Jax

Now credit where it’s due, the matches between the two were fine on both occasions. However the feud itself simply did not merit any kind of reboot.

In mid-2018, after her pretty sensational debut at WrestleMania, Ronda Rousey found herself in a championship storyline for the first time. It came about in odd fashion when then Raw Women’s Champion Nia Jax simply approached her at a WWE event and proposed they fight for the title. A slightly flustered Rousey accepted the challenge, as Charlotte Flair of all people bizarrely cheered this whole thing on.

The two met at Money in the Bank where the match ended in a DQ following an Alexa Bliss cash in. This would seem to be the end of the feud, as Rousey then entered a program with Bliss; one that would eventually end with her coronation as Women’s Champion.

However, right at the end of the year WWE revived the Jax-Rousey rivalry, the former being a heel this time around. The story wasn’t anything special before, and it certainly wasn’t any better the second time.
