10 Times WWE Ruined Something They Didn't Create

1. ECW

That first ECW One Night Stand show in 2005 was great, wasn't it? WWE's love letter to the hardcore promotion's rabid fan base, the event was a nostalgia blast that just worked. It's just a shame then that things were ruined when WWE tried to milk the ECW cash cow dry and (worse, much worse) watered it down.

Between 2008-10, the weekly ECW show resembled Sunday Night Heat more than a tribute to Paul Heyman's original vision. Things had been shaky before then, but at least ex-ECW stars like The Sandman, Sabu, and Rob Van Dam were part of things.

By 2010, Tiffany was the brand's GM and Ezekiel Jackson was champion. How things reached this point is anyone's guess, but it was clear to see the atmosphere that had made those One Night Stand shows in 2005 and 2006 so successful was replaced by WWE's own idea of what ECW should be. The result was an agonising four-year run of TV that spat on the Extreme Championship Wrestling name.
