10 Times WWE Ruined Their Own Ideas IMMEDIATELY

3. Hell In A Cell

Kane Debut

Idea: The first ever Hell In A Cell spectacle would see The Undertaker battle Shawn Michaels inside the new cage and give the WWF a new star to go along with it. Kane, 'Taker's kayfabe brother, would debut and spin off into a feud between supernatural siblings that could carry on into WrestleMania XIV.

How It Was Ruined: First and foremost, it's important to point out that The Undertaker vs. Shawn was great, and Kane's debut is one of the most memorable in WWE history. However, did the new masked menace really need to take a big chargrilled dump all over the gimmick by ripping HIAC's door clean off?

Fans were told repeatedly in the build up to 'Taker vs. Michaels that the cage would keep everybody out and lock only those two men in. The arrival of Kane changed that, and the booking made that brand new structure look like it was made of paper rather than cold, unforgiving steel.

A small gripe, maybe, but it's nonetheless true that Kane (memorable introduction or not) ruined the original purpose and selling point of HIAC.
