10 Times WWE Sabotaged WCW Wrestlers

3. The Alliance

For decades, WWF vs. WCW was a fantasy dream feud, but after Vince McMahon purchased his competition in 2001, it was finally a possibility. Although instead of Goldberg, Sting, the nWo, Ric Flair, and other WCW mainstays, this "dream feud" began with names like Chuck Palumbo, Sean O'Haire, Lance Storm, Chavo Guerrero, Chris Kanyon, and Shawn Stasiak representing WCW.

Once it became painfully obvious that this version of WCW was hardly a threat to WWE, the decision was made to add ECW to the mix, creating a super-faction called The Alliance. The angle that followed was supposed to be the biggest program of all-time (but more on that later). For now, let's just focus on the awful act of sabotage that was The Alliance.

In addition to the egregious absence of most major WCW stars, the Alliance was not led by Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman, the longtime figureheads of WCW and ECW, respectively, but instead by Shane McMahon (WCW) and Stephanie McMahon (ECW). Plus, within weeks after its formation, the Alliance would be captained by the most recognizable WWE superstar of the time, Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Instead of the WWF vs. WCW dream scenario, fans were presented with another McMahon vs. McMahon storyline with little legit WCW involvement. The Alliance promptly died on the vine.
