10 Times WWE Sabotaged WCW Wrestlers

2. The Invasion

The Alliance was bad enough, but what followed was arguably the worst angle in WWE history given its potential.

Even if WWE couldn't get every big name talent that made WCW famous, they certainly could've done better than what fans were given. The Invasion PPV in July 2001 that featured The Alliance and only 2 recognizable WCW talents in Booker T and the aforementioned horrendously-booked DDP was an awful start to the program. Things would only get worse.

Future brilliant ideas throughout the angle included The Rock as WCW Champion, The Undertaker & Kane as WCW Tag Team Champions, and two WWF staples, Steve Austin vs. Kurt Angle, acting as the main feud between WWE and WCW. Culminating at Survivor Series 2001, the potentially greatest program in history of WWF vs. WCW lasted less than six months and featured no mention of Sting, Ric Flair, Goldberg, Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, the nWo, or many other WCW icons.

The shame of it is that within six months of the Invasion's blowoff, Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Ric Flair would all sign with WWE and 12-16 months later, Goldberg, Scott Steiner, Eric Bischoff, and more would be added to the list.

The talent was there: WWE just needed to show patience and, of course, any sort of regard for WCW which was never going to happen.
