10 Times WWE Seriously Disrespected Hall Of Famers
1. The Self-Destruction Of The Ultimate Warrior
You know you must have p***** Vince and WWE off pretty badly when they devote an entire DVD simply to burying you. That's what happened in 2005 when The Self-Destruction Of The Ultimate Warrior was released, the DVD offering an insight into Jim Hellwig's conduct and behaviour during his time in the company.
It was rumoured that Self-Destruction was initially going to be a straightforward documentary on Warrior's career but, when Warrior refused to participate and slammed the company in several interviews, the order was given to produce this hatchet job. The Self-Destruction Of The Ultimate Warrior is one of the most biased DVDs the WWE have ever produced, which is saying something.
Highlights include Vince McMahon saying he couldn't wait to fire him, Bobby Henan venting considerable frustration at him and Triple H claiming that Warrior was the most unprofessional persona he had ever met in the wrestling business. Only a few wrestlers (Edge, Christian and Chris Jericho) actually defended Warrior on the DVD. Warrior sued the WWE over the way they represented his career in Self-Destruction in January 2006.
In his Hall Of Fame speech Warrior again blasted WWE over the DVD, and it was clear that it had hurt him. WWE, showing that it hadn't lost its appetite for disrespecting hall of famers with DVD releases like this, was going to release a similar DVD titled Screwed: The Bret Hart Story before The Hitman decided to join the project.
