The Mankind character took a lot of interesting turns in 1998 as he performed under the names of Dude Love, Cactus Jack, Mankind and even Mick Foley at times. After Steve Austin lost the WWE Title in the fall of 1998, it appeared as though Mankind was the chosen one by Vince McMahon to be the next WWE Champ in the Deadly Games tourney to crown a new WWE Champion. There was a complete makeover for Mankind as he even wrestled in a full suit at the Survivor Series PPV. You might recall that he wrestled in a tie most of the time anyway. They even had him shave off the beard he had, so you could see his skin under the Mankind mask, which was pretty rare. He went all out with the look. Poor Mankind didn't end up becoming WWE's chosen corporate Champion that day, but we'll get to that point later on in the list.
