10 Times WWE Stars Went Corporate

7. Corporate Austin 3:16 At Least For One Night

When Steve Austin won the WWE Title at WrestleMania 14 in 1998, Vince McMahon made it clear that he didn't want Austin to be the WWE Champion. He didn't like the way Austin acted. On the April 6, 1998 edition of Raw, Austin entered the arena wearing a suit and didn't look like his usual self. He did have on a hat as well as his wrestling boots because he couldn't get comfortable with the attire McMahon wanted him to wear. It turned out that it was all a trick by Austin. He just couldn't do it. Austin fooled McMahon into thinking that he would do this Corporate makeover. Following a photo op, Austin ripped off the suit and the crowd went wild for it. Then he hit McMahon in the groin and told the fans he wasn't going to change. This was one of those memorable segments in Raw history that continued the awesome rivalry between Austin and McMahon. Austin did turn heel in 2001 to legitimately align himself with McMahon, but that was far from a corporate character. That was more of a "bionic" redneck" as Jim Ross liked to call him while yelling about all the bad things he was doing.
