10 Times WWE Stopped Wrestlers Going Too Far

7. WWE Didn't Want To See Jeff Hardy's Mid-Air Swanton Spear With Brock Lesnar

Jeff Hardy's penchant for high-risk manoeuvres has led to many an explosive reaction and instantly iconic WWE moment over the years.

But while the company were all too happy to watch The Charismatic Enigma throw himself off trons, trailers, and countless ladders throughout the decades, there was actually one spot that WWE felt was too much even for the seemingly indestructible Hardy Boy.

As Jeff himself would note to Corey Graves on the After the bell podcast (via WrestlingInc) in 2020, in the lead-up to his match with Brock Lesnar at Backlash 2002, Hardy pitched a moment when The Beast would spear him out of the air mid-Swanton Bomb:

"I would do the Swanton and he would spear me upside down out of the air because I thought that was possible. Someone like Brock, he'd be able to do that. They said no, you can't try that. That's insane."

And they may have had a point. Hardy attempted said move in a match with Kurt Angle years later and would recall that "it didn't work out at all."
