10 Times WWE Stopped Wrestlers Going Too Far

6. Bully Ray Doesn't Quite Fit The "Be A Star" Image

In the time before making his long-awaited return to all things WWE in 2015 alongside fellow Dudley Boy D-Von, Bubba Ray took his career in an entirely different direction over in TNA/Impact Wrestling.

Rechristening himself as Bully Ray, the wrestling veteran set about forging a singles path for himself that eventually saw his heel character terrorising the show en-route to lifting the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

So, when the multiple-time tag champion decided he was happy to wave goodbye to the Dudley chapter of his most recent WWE run, Ray opted to pitch his Bully gimmick to Vince McMahon.

Despite the former boss very much being aware of his star's villainous work in TNA, Ray would recall to Chris Van Vliet how Vince simply "couldn’t get around the word Bully because of the Be A Star program."

Not even pushing for a redemption arc that would have seen Ray eventually become a Be A Star role model could keep McMahon from being reluctant to push a character with the word "Bully" in his name... nor could the alternative moniker of The Intimidator Bubba.

Well, that was 50% of the reason Bully never came to be in WWE, at least... the other 50% will no doubt pop up in another interview at a later date.
