Hulk Hogan was like a hurricane blowing through WWE in 1993, but Vince McMahon had been so awestruck by the scale of the impact early on that he never once stopped to review the devastation left behind.

Returning just before WrestleMania IX after a year-long self-imposed exile, Hogan undoubtedly bolstered the card with his star power, but a Tag Team Title match with Money Inc should have been where his comeback concluded. Decimating the entire company with his vanity run, Hogan plundered the last few dollars from McMahon and left him without any bankable stars within weeks.

With Bret Hart diminished in the eyes of pay-per-view purchasers, Vince simply looked at the bodies of his best and slapped all of Hogan's patriotism on the nearest physical replacement. The end result? Lex Luger stepping off a helicopter and on to a bus.
