10 Times WWE Stupidly Tried To Plug Gaps

5. Ric Flair After The Alliance

Vince McMahon had only just vanquished the WCW/ECW Alliance when he was suddenly greeted with the news that "THE CONSORTIUM...THE CONSORTIUM...WOOO THE BY GOD CONSORTIUM" that had bought Stephanie and Shane McMahon's shares in order for them to raise funds to raise the dead promotions in the first place had been led by Ric Flair himself.

Creating yet another dream gif before such technology even existed, McMahon nearly pulled his ear clean off in shock, but many fans were left tearing at strands of their hair as the realisation set in - WWE's only answer to the end of their greatest ever power struggle was another f*cking power struggle.

McMahon and Flair were forced to share management duties in the organisation as The Chairman embraced his heel side in the absence of entire heel company WCW. This - like so many decisions after WrestleMania X-Seven - reeked of panicked short-termism. The pieces were reset to a fault - despite 'Slick Ric' retaining a level of freshness lost by those that had entered the organisation via The Alliance angle, the story he walked into was an immediate re-telling of a dream angle that had degenerated into a pro wrestling nightmare.
