10 Times WWE SummerSlam Main Event Was Better Than WrestleMania Main Event
2. SummerSlam 2000 > WrestleMania 2000
Both of these main events were multi-man matches featuring Triple H and The Rock. Both of these matches featured heavy McMahon involvement. And yet, one stands head and shoulders above the other.
WrestleMania 2000 was promoted with the tagline "A McMahon in Every Corner", which tells you all you need to know about who the company thought its real stars were at the time. Predictably, this took the focus away from the four men vying to become WWF Champion in the show's main event, which severely handicapped the match from the get-go.
By SummerSlam, however, there was only one McMahon involved in the main event scene. A young Stephanie was not only married to the Game by this point, but she was also being pursued by the man who replaced Mick Foley and The Big Show for this match: Kurt Angle.
This soap opera love triangle was a much better story than the "Rich Family Make People Beat Each Other Up" angle fans got at 'Mania. As a result, the Rock/HHH/Angle triple threat gets way more love than "A McMahon in Every Corner" ever could.
