10 Times WWE SummerSlam Main Event Was Better Than WrestleMania Main Event
1. SummerSlam 1992 > WrestleMania VIII
Sid Justice and Hulk Hogan: two men as blonde as they are boring to watch.
Their main event match from WrestleMania VIII spent 12 minutes draining everyone's life force before a botched run-in from Papa Shango ended the bout in a dismal DQ.
Not only is this match not in the same league as Ric Flair vs. Randy Savage from earlier in the night, it's not even in the same galaxy as what would main event that year's SummerSlam. Held in Wembley Stadium in the UK, SummerSlam '92 hosted a reported 80,000+ fans who are still waiting for another major WWE show to take place on British soil.
The main event pitted national treasure, The British Bulldog, against his brother-in-law and Intercontinental Champion, Bret Hart. The two put on a match that was truly remarkable - not least because Bulldog was reportedly under the influence of drugs during the bout - and the finish of Davey Boy reversing a sunset flip to pin Bret for the gold was a truly special sight.
How these two matches happened in the same company in the same year beggars belief, but thank the lord wrestling fans had something to be happy about in 1992.
