10 Times WWE Survivor Series Decisions Backfired
4. Roman Looks Strong (2013)
Nobody at the time would've guessed that Roman Reigns would one day draw reactions ten times more caustic than anything John Cena's ever heard. In 2013, Reigns was the irresistible force that complimented The Shield's gamesmanship (Seth Rollins) and bravado (Dean Ambrose). He was also the greenest of the trio inside the ring, but his menacing look and hard-hitting potential promised greater days ahead.
In a five-on-five elimination match, Reigns and Rollins lost their three partners (Ambrose, Cesaro, and Jack Swagger), and had to fight against long odds to survive. No problem for Reigns, who pinned four of the five opponents by himself, looking like a one-man army all the while. Reigns came off great as the sole survivor, but you can point to matches like this as reasons why WWE imbued Reigns with their faith, and for some reason feeling he'd come off better as Cena-Lite, without the verbal energy. The cliched Roman Empire kicked into high gear beginning here.
