10 Times WWE Took Away The ONE Thing That Got Wrestlers Over
8. Virgil
"Money, money, money, money, mooooooneeeeee-eeeee-eeeee-eeeeey!".
Virgil certainly wasn't money when WWF decision-makers ripped him from the side of 'Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase in 1991. Almost overnight, DiBiase's bodyguard went from working a cushy gig for one of the most luxurious gimmicks in wrestling history (staying in the finest hotels, drinking the best champagne etc) to staring at long-term jobber status.
That had to be gutting for the guy. Suddenly, Virgil wasn't travelling around first class with Ted or complementing his character. Nah, he was plain old Virgil, and he started wearing striped tights that reeked of lower-card stature. The gravy train was very much over.
Virgil predictably struggled on his own once the company powered through a logical feud with DiBiase. Fans couldn't take him seriously as a credible babyface after years of playing background noise, and he continued to dwindle down the pecking order before being released in 1994.
