10 Times WWE Took Away The ONE Thing That Got Wrestlers Over

7. The Godfather

A still-cheery and fun-loving Charles Wright recently told the world, via Steve Austin's excellent 'Broken Skull Sessions' series, that he hated being part of Right To Censor. The 'Goodfather' gig felt like a brutal comedown after years of playing a more colourful pimp character (The Godfather), and Wright wanted out.

Sensing that, Vince McMahon put the Tag-Team Titles on he and Bull Buchanan to keep Chuck around just a little while longer. So, why did Wright detest the 'Goodfather' idea? Well, it just wasn't him. Plus, as much as he understood the reasoning for toning things down, he couldn't stomach the thought that the PTC (Parents Television Council) were having influence.

His stock plummeted in RTC.

Playing the pimp was the first time that Wright got over as a legitimate singles smash hit. It's not hard to understand why he was so hesitant to give that role up despite increasing pressure on McMahon from the outside.
