10 Times WWE Tried (And Failed) To Swerve The Fans

7. Enzo's Attacker

Given that Cass has since gone down with a long-term injury and Enzo fired altogether, it's almost tempting to forget that their dramatic split in the middle of 2017 even happened at all. But it did, and everyone and their mother saw it coming.

Mainly, this was predictable because it seemed to be a rehash of sorts of Matt Hardy's backstage attacks on Jeff back in 2008, not to mention Triple H on Shawn Michaels six years earlier. Whenever a wrestler goes down in the locker room these days, you can be fairly certain their BFF is the culprit.

It was also painfully obvious to anyone paying attention that the tag team duo were going to be heading their separate ways before long. Cass had even been given a brief go at the Universal Championship the previous year, making clear which one WWE regarded as the better prospect.

The sad thing about this is that the angle felt so nondescript that it didn't provide the big man with the sort of launchpad that he needed for a proper singles push thereafter. The fact that he then got hurt has protected the creative team from a lot of criticism that might otherwise have come their way.
