10 Times WWE Tried To Convince You Wrestlers Were Related

3. Edge & Christian

This is where things get weird, which is certainly saying something after the Hornswoggle McMahon and Burchill incest nonsense.

When Christian was introduced as a member of Gangrel's Brood in 1998, he did so as Edge's storyline brother. That tale developed further when the pair broke away from the faction to become over-the-top heels in 1999 (five-second poses, flash photography, kazoos, huge sunglasses and all), and WWE repeatedly stated that they were siblings.

In fact, a major selling point of the team's rivalries with The Hardy and Dudley Boyz from 1999-2001 was that all three duos were brothers. Something changed when Christian returned to the company after a spell working for TNA in 2009.

Suddenly, Christian was Edge's childhood friend. Old angles, including Christian jealously trying to prove himself to his bro in 2001, were ignored and WWE pushed the idea that both Canadians had only grown up as good pals. There was zero mention of brotherhood, almost like it hadn't been part of their careers at all.
